LANDMARKS

 

 

Pearly Mound School-It is a one room old time country school. It was open from 1900 to 1960. It was first through eighth grade and one teacher. After it closed it was used for meetings.

Corner Cafe-It was a corner saloon. Then it changed to a cafe. It changed to Balloons and Moore. It has an apartment on top of the store.

Klauss James Art Museum-In 1904 it was a bank on the first floor. In 1924-1987 it was a hospital. The second floor is now an art museum and the first floor is an office.  

Veterans Memorial-It is on Main Street close to our school. There are six granite tablets, seven ft. in a semi circle. It's for the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines. There are six flags with the U. S. in the middle.
